After an overnight stop in Folkestone, we take an early Eurotunnel train to France then a short hop down the motorway to get us away from the Channel ports and bring us to our breakfast stop in Lille.
Moving on, we travel through rural France to our first overnight stop in Chalon en Champagne, this beautiful town on The Marne River is in the centre of The Champagne region. There may an opportunity to sample some of the local produce, but not too much as we are off first thing tomorrow, (well, not quite FIRST thing but we need to be on the road by 09:00 each day)
Day Two: Chalon to Colmar: (195 miles / 4hrs)
Day two sees us leave the Champagne region and get our first taste of what The Vosges has to offer as we approach our base for the next four nights, the beautiful riverside town of Colmar.
Day Three / Four / Five: Exploring
(Route des Cretes 101 miles / 2.5 hours) (Schwartswald 285 miles / 4 hours)
The next three days will be spent exploring the region. We have two day trips planned that will show you a small part of the extensive Vosges region and its famous Route de Cretes which is a former military road built in the early 20th century as part of the border between France and Germany. Most of the route is above 950m and at it highest point reaches 1343m at the Col du Grand Ballon.
Also, we have a route planned that crosses the border into the Schwartswold (Black Forest) where we will experience a section of the B500 and some of the other lesser known roads through the forest.
Alternatively, you can spend the days exploring Colmar town or visting some of the local attractions including the world famous Mulhouse Car Museum, The French National Railway museum and the City of Strasbourg is also short trip up the road.
We will meet up every evening to sample some of the local cuisine and chat about our day.
Day 6: Colmar to Charleville Mezieres (210 miles / 4.5hrs)
Regretably, all too early, we start our return journey but its not all bad news as we continue to explore more of The Vosges and on to our final overnight stop in Charleville Mezieres.
Day Seven: Charleville to Calais: (196 miles / 4hrs)
Our final day takes us back to Calais for an afternoon train back home. You can share your thoughts about the trip, exchange contact details and maybe start planning the next trip,

Itinerary :
Nestled next to the German border and the magnificent River Rhine, The Vosges is an often overlooked region of France, but it offers so much for the discerning motorcyclist who is looking for the same quality of roads of its neighbour, the amazing B500 in the Black Forest which draws motorcyclists from all over Europe and the rest of the world (but without the congestion).
The Vosges offers miles and miles of sweeping bends on great tarmac with the occasional tight turn to keep you focused, which is difficult when there is so much staggering scenery around every corner.
